Bring It On

A short, well-made video detailing the activities of 'Bring It On'; a series of community projects for young people in Wythenshawe during the half-term holiday. The aim of the scheme is described as encouraging young people to believe in themselves by enabling them to achieve new things. The piece outlines initiatives based at Woodhouse Park Youth Centre, Newall Green Youth Centre, Woodhouse Park Family Centre and St. Francis Church, Newall Green. Young people choose between drama workshops, DJ workshops and MC workshops, alongside dance sessions and a comedy workshop at Wythenshawe FM, backed by Radio Regen. At St. Francis Church a series of workshops celebrates the cultural diversity of Wythenshawe by encouraging young people to draw and paint items for a gigantic mural. The final part of the piece is devoted to highlights from the 'Bring It On' showcase event when the participants demonstrate their new skills on stage in front of a live audience. This piece would act as an encouraging example to other community groups interested in offering a similarly co-ordinated range of activities to young people. This video lasts for 18 minutes and 6 seconds. Further information can be found at http://www.rogerstanway.com
