| This well made video was produced by a group of young people about some of the problems they have each faced and how they dealt with them. Each participant has created a performance piece to illustrate their feelings about themselves or their particular problem, whilst they explain their experiences in voice-over. The first is an interpretive dance piece about a girl who has been hit by a friend and feels isolated. The second is a performance by a girl who suffered from hyperactivity in school, illustrating the cause and effect of her feelings through her costume and actions. The third, illustrated by lighting and movement, is about a boy who feels lonely and isolated. In the fourth piece a girl expresses the experience of her mother going into hospital for a serious procedure, and the worry and sadness she felt. This work involves an interpretive movement piece between mother and daughter. The fifth and final piece about a boy whose love of ballroom dancing was affected but suffered when he began to have kidney problems, as he explains over a sequence showing him dancing. The video ties all these pieces together as a coherent whole, showing the unity that the young people have found in this project and in being part of a group. It concludes with the individuals speaking about their “breakthrough” moments; when their problems changed or went away or they found the means with which to cope with their situations. This video recording lasts 12 minutes and 8 seconds. |
