Writers' Stories – Julian Branston |
|
An edition of the TV show Writers’ Stories, featuring author Julian Branston talking about his first novel, in an interview recorded in the open air at the Edinburgh International Book Festival. Julian Branston’s book ‘The Eternal Quest’ is based on the story of Don Quixote, which interviewer Raj Chakraborti describes as the first novel of all, and the author says his aim was to reawaken interest in Cervantes’ work. They discuss the legacy of Cervantes, his specific style of writing and Julian Branston’s research for his own novel. He says Don Quixote was a great story that means all things to all people, but in general readers liked his book and reviewers didn’t, perhaps largely because they thought he was being presumptuous in taking on such a task. This video recording lasts 8 minutes and 7 seconds. This video recording lasts 15 minutes and 7 seconds. |
