ERA TEXTV - Edinburgh Television Launch Compilation

This video is an apparently computer-generated automated sequence of still images and simple advertisements for local businesses taken from the small-scale Edinburgh Television service in March and April 2000.

Entitled ‘New Music and ScreenTex plus TexTV teletext midnight- 6 pm’ the short off-air recording gives a sample of this sustaining service, including captions promoting arts information on the accompanying teletext service ERA – Edinburgh Review of Arts.

Repeated ‘Up your street’ features give a montage of still photographs of shop fronts and other very local landmarks from different specific local areas and, combined with the changing captions, could provide a useful model for a sustaining service for community television services elsewhere. This video recording lasts 9 minutes and 30 seconds.
