This piece is a short audio documentary about the Christian meaning of Good Friday, originally broadcast on the day itself during Easter 2003.
Focussing on the surroundings and atmosphere of St. Albans Abbey, the presenter explains how Abbey was built over the shrine of St Alban to commemorate the first Christian martyr in Britain, and that people have been visiting the site for hundreds of years. Tourists and local visitors are interviewed, and asked what Good Friday means to them. There are a wide variety of responses from all kinds of people about their beliefs, both religious and secular, and how they feel the meaning has changed over time. The programme concludes with Christian thoughts and readings. This audio recording last 14 minutes and 18 seconds.
