Space, Sewers and Beyond : Head to Head in Fox Hollywood (subtitled) |

| The “Space, Sewers and Beyond” collection of short films, were all made by young people aged between 14-19, who are learning disabled or hearing-impaired. “Massive Message Productions” engaged young people with some creative practitioners to work together to incorporate disability access into production values, processes and product. The aim of the project was not only to give the young people access to filmmaking, but also to involve artists and filmmakers who had not worked with learning disabled or hearing-impaired young people before. A DVD was produced, with many of the films including subtitles, audio description and sign interpretation. All these alternate versions of the films can also be found on ‘The Showcase’ website, along with a short video of credits of all involved in “Space, Sewers and Beyond”. This short film is a documentary, with some spoof drama, about the making of the short animated film “Head to Head”, which is also available to view on The Showcase. This behind-the-scenes view includes comic scenes of parody of the film industry and interviews in the manner of a Hollywood behind-the-scenes special. We see in the documentary all the processes the children were involved with in the filmmaking and the amount of work put into the animation. This version of the documentary includes subtitles. It is also available on The Showcase without sub-titles, with audio description and with British Sign Language. This video recording last 9 minutes and 26 seconds. |
