| This is the web site of Radio Ryedale, a non-profit, voluntary radio service for North Yorkshire. The site uses a news magazine style of presentation to draw us into separate pages offering photos and streaming audio on individual local stories. Described as "an exciting exploration of new technology's ability to provide community solutions to community problems", this is an online magazine produced by volunteers from the local community. The first page lists twelve current stories. Stories range from items on the shortage of local craftsmen, the importance of the local hospital, the opening of a new business centre to a focus on local musicians. Other links from the first page include: CONTACT; ABOUT (leading to a brief description of the history and activities of Radio Ryedale Limited); HELP (giving an explanation of how to listen to audio or watch moving pictures on your PC using straightforward everyday language); SOAP BOX (a page offering an opportunity for local people to have their say on Ryedale issues, billed as a type of online "Letters to the Editor"). Please note that this site is regularly updated and the content may therefore have changed since this review was undertaken (January 2003). |
