| This audio documentary by Stephanie Bailey deals with issues around racism in rural South-West England. This piece demonstrates that racism is widespread in these areas, specifically Devon. Individuals from ethnic backgrounds are given the opportunity to air their experiences. This piece suggests that rural isolation means that people from ethnic minorities lack the support they may have in more populated areas whilst ignorance in the general population is partially caused by a lack of contact with people from other cultures. This lack of contact can lead to insecurity and fear of the unknown - transforming to acts of violence or attacks on ethnic minorities. This documentary is suitable for educational use. This documentary lasts for 13 minutes and 49 seconds. |
